Our client is a global manufacturing company, a market leader in the shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing industry. In order to grow the organization and strengthen its engineering team in Oceania, our client wants to recruit a: Service Engineer (Mechanical) (Based in Fremantle) ORGANISATION: You will be reporting to the Managing Director and will be in charge of providing both onsite (shipyards) and offsite engineering services and support to customers to resolve any technical and operational issues on the company installed equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring you to work onsite and in the company workshop. As a frontline representative, the service engineer interacts with owner’s representatives, shipyard personnel and other stakeholders ensuring customer satisfaction. Flexibility to travel is required as this position will require traveling to support clients throughout the Oceania region. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Expertise: Installation, commissioning, validation and maintenance of capital equipment onsite i.e. various shipyards. Customer Support: Serve as a customer-facing technical engineer. Independently meeting daily service repair needs by fault-finding and repair of the defect on site or in at the workshop. Work in collaboration with Australia, New Zealand and other internationally based expert technicians. Documentation: Prepare technical reports. Create and maintain installation data, service information, and repair log in the company enterprise database. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Gets trained and also trains and supervises new engineers on the job. Shares and discusses experiences / case studies related to technical issues faced onsite and comes up with ideas to resolve the same in future. Safety: Strictly follows Safe Work practices and Safety regulations on worksite or at the company’s workshop. YOUR PROFILE: Hands-on experience on overhauling thrusters, gearboxes and pumps. Experience in propulsion systems will be an advantage. You have 5 years of technical (field) experience in repairs, maintenance, and commissioning work in industries such as automotive, hydraulics or marine. You are willing to travel - local, interstate and other international locations as required. You have good analytical skills; you are a keen learner and can analyse complex situations. Independent, hands-on and hard-working; you get excited by challenging tasks.
